I enjoy explaining basic concepts in physics and chemistry. It forces me to explain the same concept in several ways until I find one that works for the student. One of them went from struggling with basic college chemistry to being a chemistry major with honors and working in my lab. He is now in medical school and the friendship remains. I am currently a researcher in quantum physics and find that tutoring is a good way to promote science. Very often it is not the material that is hard but the language used is not appropriate for everyone, in particular at a basic level.
